Superbly located right in the heart of Melbourne on the edge of the Yarra River is the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC). When it comes to convention centres the Melbourne Convention Centre is a convention centre like no other - Australia’s premier convention centre. The convention centre is easily accessible from every direction by foot, car or public transport and is surrounded by cafes, bars, shopping and fine restaurants.

Car Parking - Melbourne Convention Centre
There are two car parks available for visitors to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

0.0 - 1.0 hour    $6.00
1.0 - 2.0 hours    $12.00
2.0 - 3.0 hours   $18.00
3.0 - 4.0 hours   $24.00
4.0 + hours   $28.00 max. 
Night Fees - $8.00, entry after 5pm and exit before 6am
Weekend Fees - $10.00, per exit, per day
Earlybird Fees - $10.00, enter between 6am - 9am and
exit between 3pm - midnight

Hours of Operation - non-event days:
Monday to Friday - 0500 hours to 1700 hours
Saturday - 0500 hours to 1330 hours
Sunday - closed
Hours of operation will be extended to service events being held in the MCEC

Event days $10


Where to eat in Melbourne?

China Town
Chinatown extends along Little Bourke Street between Swanston St and Spring St. Its cabinet makers and lodging houses may now be gone but eating houses and top class restaurants now take their place with the streetscape and its low-rise brick buildings, retaining its historic character.

Southbank & Southgate
Southbank  and Southgate is the area that stretches along the southern bank of the Yarra River. Southbank was once an old and neglected area, mostly industrial, which has recently rejuvenated as the heartbeat of the central city area. At Southgate, a huge emphasis is placed on outdoor eating and sidewalk entertainment.

Docklands
Docklands is unique to Melbourne. The huge area is a short trip from the inner CBD area and is surrounded by stunning water views.  With breathtaking city, harbour and river views and an extensive collection of restaurants, cafes and bars to choose, dining at Docklands is an experience to savour.

Docklands comprises the area from Spencer Street to the east and the Bolte Bridge to the west, Footscray Road to the north and Lorimer Street to the south. Docklands comprises the waterways of Victoria Harbour and three kilometres of Yarra River frontage.

Queen Victoria Market
The Queen Victoria Market is much more than just Melbourne's shopping mecca – it’s a historic landmark, a tourist attraction and an institution for Melburnians. Spread over some seven hectares with more than 600  individual retailers, it’s a true reflection of Melbourne's cosmopolitan makeup. Shoppers can find everything from fruit and vegetables to local and imported gourmet foods, fashion and general merchandise. The market is open 5 days per week, with Sunday taking on a carnival atmosphere as a variety of entertainers delight the crowds.

Laneways & Arcades

Weaving a maze through the city grid, Melbourne’s laneways uncover hidden treasures and a charming, intimate atmosphere. For a bite to eat, hit Hardware Lane, Degraves Street, Centre Place, Block Place or The Causeway. There’s also hidden lanes on either side of Chinatown. From Block Arcade’s (1891) Italian interior splendour to Melbourne’s oldest trading Royal Arcade (1869), strolling through these historical icons will not only give the architectural admirer a fix, but the serious shopper a chance to uncover many hidden gems.

NGV International
NGV International is Australia’s oldest and pre-eminent public art museum featuring blockbuster exhibitions and one of the world’s finest art collections. The NGV Collection encompasses treasures from Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome and pre-Columbian period, in addition to an Oceanic gallery dedicated to the Indigenous cultures of the Pacific area. There are nearly 16,000 international prints and drawings, a distinguished array of European and Asian decorative arts, and a gallery spaced dedicated to 4,000 works representing the art of Asia. You will also find an outstanding collection of European and British paintings dating from 1200 to now, fashion and textiles, photography, furniture and sculpture waiting to be explored.
